The team had a recent query which we thought would benefit other areas:

Following our conversation earlier, as you know I am currently reviewing PA training with XXX and would like confirmation whether SVA Training should be classroom based, or whether online SVA Training is sufficient?

    Kind regards

The quick answer is that it depends on the local authority requirement. We deliver Bracknell Forest’s own training but technically it could be done online if the LA was happy with this form of training. However, there would need to be a follow up to this with local contact number and a detailed local procedure agreed with the local safeguarding team.

We prefer classrom-based training for all our delivery, but recognise that it’s not possible to micro-manage training delivery for all PAs let alone the 140-odd care providers we also work with. However, for PAs who generally work alone, we know that the added value of coming together to share learning is very much appreciated. The challenge is costing training at a price they can afford and delivering it within a timescale that doesn’t interfere with their care delivery.
